A must read in 2011

I was fortunate enough to receive a gift of ‘The Bed of Procrustes’ by Nassim Nicholas Taleb the author of The Black Swan (which I confess to not having read). It’s a slim volume, a collectiom of aphorisms which are highly relevant to the world we live in.

It’s impossible to read even a few without realising they have hit their target – YOU !

Here are a couple:

“Most modern efficiences are deferred punishment.”

“The fool views himself as more unique and others more generic; the wise views himself as more generic and others more umique.”

“People often need to suspend their self-promotion, and have someone in their lives they do not need to impress. This explains dog ownership.”

And so it goes on.

A great book to dip in and out of and certainly one which will inject a little humility into your life !
