Keep Calm and Carry On

Today, The Daily Telegraph had a nice piece on the background of the iconic World War II poster which was designed for but never actually displayed around London. “Keep Calm and Carry On”.

It’s part authoritative and partly just reassuring. Five simple words which hold as much today during our current crisis as back then. What better call to action to have in the back of your mind when turbulence is hitting your desk !mug

Graphically it’s very potent. I bought a few coffee mugs bearing the poster last summer for friends and they were a hit. Sadly, the one I kept for myself soon disappeared. Not so much carry on as carry OFF.

Can any one come up with a better slogan in a similar vein ?

  1. When the cost of paper went up during The War, Penguin simply made their books smaller. Adjust, rethink, take risks and be creative. Welcome to 2009.

I can’t claim this quote, but love it!
