It being a rainy day in London I spent the morning catching up with a stack of accumulated ‘old media’ including Wallpaper Magazine. This magazine seems to have got back into it’s stride again returning to the territory of a decent read whereas before it was a fast flick through followed by “Why ?”.
Towards the front of the book Dunhill have purchased three double page spreads to run their latest advertising campaign. Based on three portraits and life/philosophy stores of the producer & broadcaster – Sir David Frost, violin virtuoso – Charlie Siem and artist & author – Harland Miller it is both an iconic and uplifting campaign which avoids the triteness of the typical personality based ad (step forward Rolex, Tag Heuer, Neospresso etc).

It has depth and, because they chosen a wide enough range of personality, they have avoided the dangers of polarizing the audience.
David Sims was the photographer but the campaign does not stop there. They’ve woven into their website and eCommerce experience “Shop the look” with some good use of candid films of the three subjects.
All in all a very integrated campaign which should deliver for Dunhill.
